Design & Permitting

Since 1991, the Sussex Conservation District has served as the delegated agency for the administration of Delaware's Sediment and Stormwater Regulations. Projects disturbing 5,000 square feet or more are required to have a sediment and stormwater plan. Our delegation responsibility includes review, inspection, maintenance inspection and outreach education/technical assistance.

Poultry houses are constructed according to environmental standards that ensure water quality is protected. In Delaware, the building process involves state and federal permits administered through multiple agencies. Sediment and Stormwater Plans are required to be submitted to the Sussex Conservation District and approved prior to initiating site work.
