#WEDIGHEALTHYSOILS: PUTTING ON SUCCESSFUL SOIL HEALTH EVENTS IN YOUR DISTRICT

Join the Sussex Conservation District to learn how they spearheaded the formation of the Delaware Soil Health Partnership, a collaborative effort to offer workshops and field days throughout the year to help farmers develop their own farm-specific strategies. They’ll share what has worked for their District and their farmers, including event logistics, choosing topics and speakers, finding funding and working with multiple organizations. As a result of these efforts, 85% of farmers surveyed at recent soil health outreach events in Delaware say that they have made management changes to improve their soil health! Want a preview? Bio: The Sussex Conservation District provides services to all Sussex County residents. They began their soil health outreach program in 2014, and have hosted nearly 20 events for 1,300 farmers. Resource Smart LLC has helped to support the effort along the way by helping to coordinate events and develop outreach and promotional materials. Their goals are to keep the effort focused on Sussex County farmers and to facilitate conversations between researchers, farmers and other soil health experts.
