February 2021
Stephen L. Marsh is a professional engineer, senior vice president and site sustainable group leader at George, Miles & Buhr (GMB). He oversees environmental projects, flood studies, coastal resiliency and land development projects across Delmarva. Marsh has distinguished himself as a leader in sustainable engineering practices, acquiring his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED AP) certification in 2008 and designation as a Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality (CPSWQ) in 2012.
His work within Sussex County primarily consists of land development projects in the southeastern corner of the county. Since joining GMB in 1994, Marsh has worked closely with SCD, calling the experience, “one of the high points of my career.”
While SCD serves as a regulatory agency, reviewing all stormwater management plans for compliance with Delaware's Sediment and Stormwater Program; Marsh says, “I bounce ideas off staff and keep an open dialogue, it’s more than just SCD reviewing projects, we work colleague to colleague.”
In addition, Marsh previously served as a technical advisor to SCD, providing hydrology software training to staff. He has also designed projects for SCD and currently chairs SCDs stormwater advisory committee.
“I’ve worked closely with SCD over, really, the entire length of my career, I love the dialogue and professionalism,” Marsh said. It’s something I look forward to in my day-to-day life. I’m honored to be a featured cooperator.”
