SCD announces inaugural Conservation Stewardship Awards

GEORGETOWN, Del., Sept. 1, 2021 – Sussex Conservation District (SCD), the delegated authority for Delaware Sediment and Stormwater Regulations in Sussex County, is accepting entries for the inaugural Conservation Stewardship Award. This award will recognize organizations in five categories that have exceeded regulations to prepare, protect and preserve sensitive natural resources in the county.
“SCD, through its recognition and appreciation of these organizations hopes to catalyze future voluntary conservation and encourage residents to choose conservation-focused organizations,” said Jessica Watson, sediment and stormwater program manager at SCD.
Entries will be accepted in the following categories:
Developer
o Residential
o Commercial
Design team
o Engineer
o Surveyor
o Other
Home builder
o 1-50 homes per year
o 51+ homes per year
Homeowner association
o Open space management
o Stormwater management
Site Contractor
o Residential
o Commercial
Multiple entries per organization are permitted, photos and videos are encouraged. The deadline to enter is Monday, Nov. 15, 2021.
A panel of judges will evaluate entries and winners will be announced in early Jan. 2022. Winners will receive the 2022 Conservation Stewardship Award and graphic. A banquet, on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at Mulligan’s Pointe in Georgetown, will formally recognize winners, their achievement and positive impact on the state’s natural resources.
