SCD accepting entries for the 2023 Conservation Stewardship Award

GEORGETOWN, Del., Oct. 6, 2022 – Sussex Conservation District (SCD), the delegated authority for Delaware Sediment and Stormwater Regulations in Sussex County, is accepting entries for the 2023 Conservation Stewardship Award. This award will recognize organizations in seven categories that have exceeded regulations to prepare, protect and preserve sensitive natural resources in the county.
“We hope to catalyze future voluntary conservation and encourage residents to choose conservation focused organizations,” said Jessica Watson, sediment and stormwater program manager at SCD. “Last year we held the inaugural event and were overwhelmed with the positive feedback. We revamped the categories for 2023 and are excited to see what the second year brings.”
Entries will be accepted in the following categories: certified construction reviewer, design team, developer, green conservation, home builder, project manager and site contractor.
Multiple entries per organization are permitted, photos and videos are encouraged. The deadline to enter is Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022.
A panel of judges will evaluate entries and winners will be announced in early Jan. 2023. Winners will receive the 2023 Conservation Stewardship Award and graphic. A banquet, on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Plantation Lakes in Millsboro will formally recognize winners, their achievement and positive impact on the state’s natural resources.
